Street of Experiments 2019

The SFB has been on the Street of Experiments 2019 in Giessen (Straße der Experimente)

On 26th of May, the "Street of Experiments" took place in front of the Uni Hauptgebäude in Gießen, a fun annual science festival. Through several experiments for example on colour-touch, colour-sound associations, colour afterimages and illusions our department was able to provide an insight into our academic field.

Developmental psychology was also able to provide exciting insights into areas of their department:

Motor Development with Visual Impairment: Using a pair of "digital squint goggles," known as prism goggles, children and adults were able to directly experience how vision is impaired by strabismus - and what effects this can have on very everyday skills such as throwing.
Emotion processing: Older children were able to assign different facial expressions to positive or negative emotions on a laptop. This is not an easy task when words are heard at the same time that are also associated with different emotions!
For the youngest children, various small painting and craft activities were also available, which were accepted with great interest.
