The overall focus of my research is on developmental changes found in categorizing emotional facial expressions. The aim is to uncover any effects of age – both the observer’s and the age of a presented face – and whether such effects influence the processing and categorization mechanisms. Additionally, I will be investigating the impact of emotionally congruent and incongruent sentences paired with the facial expressions.

 

The highlight of my project is the naturalistic stimuli created by using dynamically unfolding emotional expressions and talking high-fidelity faces called MetaHumans. All of this will benefit from implementing an eye tracker to detect any age-related gaze patterns.
