Im Rahmen meiner Forschung beschäftige ich mich mit der Frage, mit welchen Strategien es uns Menschen gelingt, trotz unvermeidbarer Variabilität in der Ausführung unserer Bewegungen dennoch die gewünschten Handlungsziele relativ verlässlich zu erreichen. Dazu untersuchen wir häufig Wurfbewegungen in speziellen virtuellen Szenarien und auch in realen Situationen im Sport. Dabei erfassen wir die Kinematik der Bewegungen und erheben auch neurophysiologische Parameter. Als Mitglied einer Forschungsgruppe untersuche ich im Rahmen eines DFG Schwerpunktprogramms auch, welche spezifischen Effekte ein Üben unter kognitiv-motorischen Doppelaufgaben langfristig hat. In allen Bereichen ist die Arbeit auch dadurch geprägt, dass wir durch die Entwicklung neuer Erhebungs- und Analyseverfahren neue Zugänge zu den untersuchten Fragestellungen eröffnen.
