On the origin of color categories
Project C2 combines psychophysics, modeling and neuroimaging to obtain a unified account for the emergence of color categories and their relationship to object categories. In particular we try to disentangle the contributions of retinal mechanisms and attention to categorical perception of color. Through an fMRI study we investigate the neuronal basis for the interaction between color perception and categorization, and we aim to build an image-computable model that covers color vision from eye to brain.
